I remember standing in the middle of our bench seat in the front of the car with my arm around my Daddy's neck. I was singing to him. 'You are my Sunshine' was the song that was sweetly being sung into his ear.
The wind was blowing my long hair all about our faces. There was not a/c in the car, so all the windows were down.
Neither of us was buckled up. I'm not even sure if there were seat belts in that car. When Daddy put his foot on the brake, his muscular right arm would shoot out in front of me. It would brace me comfortably against the seat. I felt like nothing could hurt me when my Daddy was near.
